Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head
In October 2007, Seneca Gaming Corporation announced a partnership with the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head to pursue development of a casino facility in Massachusetts.
A federally recognized tribe located in Southeastern Massachusetts, the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe is pursuing one of three commercial casino licenses proposed by the Governor of Massachusetts. The Aquinnah Wampanoag were the first federally recognized tribe in the state.
To assist with the myriad issues associated with developing a casino, the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe has entered into an exclusive agreement with Seneca Gaming Corporation. The company will work with the tribe to secure a casino license, analyze market conditions, secure financing, select a site and negotiate with public officials. The group is primarily interested in development opportunities in Southeastern Massachusetts, but will also explore sites in Boston and Western Massachusetts.
