SENECA GAMING CORPORATION EXPANDS TO LEWISTON, NY WITH DEVELOPMENT OF CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSE
The Seneca Nation of Indians and Seneca Gaming Corporation are developing one of the most anticipated economic development projects in the region - Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course.
This 18-hole championship-level golf course will be located on 257 acres of land in the Town of Lewiston, just a few miles north of Niagara Falls!
The Seneca Nation of Indians and Seneca Gaming Corporation have led the charge for investment and job creation in Western New York and the development of Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course will only add to our already positive impact on the local economy.
The Seneca Nation will invest $20 million to develop the project, creating at least 44 new jobs and will bring significant revenue to the Town of Lewiston and the local economy.
To assure the success of Seneca Hickory Stick, the Seneca Nation has selected renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II to plan the layout for the scenic Par-72 course along side an approximately 15,000 square-foot club house.
Mr. Jones and his team have designed more than 230 courses, in 38 countries on 6 continents, including, 108 remarkable venues that have hosted World Cups, USGA Championships and PGA Tour Events. Among the signature courses in Jones' portfolio are Poipu Bay Resort Golf Course, Southern Highlands, and the Kalúhyat Golf Club.
The Seneca Nation of Indians' goal is to develop a public golf course that will offer not only a level of golf not currently available in the area, but one that stands out as one of the best in New York State and the northeast. This project is expected to attract golf enthusiasts from across the Northeast and Canada, putting Lewiston on the map as a top-level destination.
Ground was broken for the project in June 2007. Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course is scheduled to open for the 2009 golf season.
