Union withdraws election petition and unfair labor practice charge
Niagara Falls, NY February 10, 2005- The Seneca Niagara Gaming Corporation today announced that the National Labor Relations Board notified it that the local Teamsters Union has withdrawn its election petition and its unfair labor practice charge.
"We are gratified that the charge was dropped. We knew that it was totally unfounded and that it was nothing more than a desperate attempt by the local Teamsters to demonstrate their independence from their international leadership," stated Barry E. Snyder, Chairman of the Board of the Seneca Gaming Corporation and President of the Seneca Nation of Indians. "I think it shows that the Union was more interested in its own internal politics than in our employees." he added.
"We are sensitive to the concerns that our employees have expressed about outside influences who have their own agendas, and we are committed to providing working conditions at our Casino that compare favorably with other Indian gaming operations nationwide. We will continue to provide a compensation package, including health care benefits and a 401(k) retirement plan, that is generous and fair," Mr. Snyder added.
Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel is New York State's first full-service casino featuring reel-spinning and video slot machines. Just a few blocks from world-famous Niagara Falls, the Casino is located at 310 Fourth Street. The 112,590 square feet gaming floor houses more than 3,200 slot machines and 97 table games.
